
William Smith is an American pianist, composer, and teacher based in Boston, MA. Originally from Augusta, GA, he began studying piano at age six and later earned degrees in Piano Performance and Pure Mathematics from Florida State University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Longy School of Music. A versatile musician, William is known for his performances of contemporary and 20th-century repertoire, his work as a collaborative pianist, and his own compositions which draw from minimalist, sacred, and mathematical influences. His recent works include a choral setting of the 23rd Psalm, a Piano Sonata in F major, and a micro-opera The Fall. William serves as a staff accompanist at the Longy School of Music, the Music Director at the First UU Society of Middleboro, and maintains an active teaching studio in the Boston area.
